What is the best way for apprentices to prepare for exams? And what is the best way for HR managers to select the right candidate for a job? „Simply compiling a multiple-choice test that features some multimedia content is outdated“, says Dr. Christian Saul of Fraunhofer IDMT. „Today it is important to focus on the individual learner, consider their speed of learning, detect their knowledge gaps, and offer learner-specific exercises.“ This is exactly what askMe! does. It takes the learning characteristics of individual learners into account, ensuring that they are neither overchallenged nor underchallenged. On a user-friendly dashboard, the learner is offered individual information on their learning goals and the test results achieved, plus an individual profile of the learner’s strengths and weaknesses.

Apart from the e-assessment system, the Fraunhofer experts will be demonstrating how exercises and tests can easily be compiled by learners using the authoring environment, and how test results can be evaluated. Moreover, it will be demonstrated how askMe! supports tutors in analyzing and optimizing the learning content they offer, allowing them to offer learners consulting and support.

Possible areas of application of askMe! are numerous, as the system can be fed with exercises and tests from practically any knowledge domain. Fraunhofer Academy is currently using the system in its continuing education program named „Learning Lab Cyber Security“, in the course of which specialist and executive staff from business and public administration are trained and qualified with state-of-the-art IT knowledge.
