The 5th International Symposium on the Internet of Sounds (IEEE IS2 2024) will take place from September 30 to October 2, 2024 in Erlangen, Germany. The Internet of Sounds is an emerging research field at the intersection of the Internet of Things (IoT) and Sound and Music Computing. The aim is to bring together academia and industry to investigate and advance the development of Internet of Sounds technologies by using novel tools and processes.
Hanna Lukashevich, head of Semantic Music Technologies, will give a keynote on the topic "Acoustic Monitoring" and Jakob Abeßer will be paper co-chair of the symposium.
Keynote
This keynote discusses the design and application of acoustic monitoring systems in varied settings such as urban areas, industrial sites, and natural landscapes. It will cover the structure and workflow of these systems, including steps from building to training. The talk will compare acoustic monitoring to other systems, focusing on unique challenges like domain adaptation. Real-world examples will be provided to demonstrate the practical use and effectiveness of these systems in different environments.
