Modern smart phones contain many different sensors. These include one or more microphones, one or two cameras, GPS sensors and sometimes even acceleration and magnetic field sensors. In more open operating systems, e. g. Android, these sensor data can be accessed by developers using APIs. Within this project initial work has been done for assistive technologies (e. g. fall recognition) for older users to be implemented in future smart phones.
Responsibilities of Fraunhofer IDMT
The project carried out at the Jade University für Applied Sciences, Oldenburg, was supervised by the Oldenburg Branch for Hearing, Speech and Audio Technology HSA. For this, experiences of the Oldenburg Branch in the field of assistive technologies and acoustic recognition of critical situations for older users was a basis.
