NABCOM

The goal of this project was to develop a technologically new and intelligent microphone system that can be beneficial in professional conference systems. In speech intelligibility and usability, the system should be advantageous compared with state-of-the-art systems by using digital audiosignal processing and results from hearing research.

Responsibilities of Fraunhofer IDMT

The Fraunhofer IDMT's Oldenburg Branch for Hearing, Speech and Audio Technology HSA developed algorithms in acoustic localisation and direction filtering, noise reduction and acoustic scene analysis.

The project NABCOM was funded by the German Ministry of Economic and Energy (BMWi).

Enhancement of Speech Intelligibility

Scientists at Fraunhofer IDMT develop software solutions which automatically analyse and optimise the intelligibility of speech – for applications ranging from railway station announcements and mobile phone calls through to car navigation systems.
